BP Oil Spill

Its been over 3 months and BP is still trying to fix the oil spill in the Gulf. What I don’t understand is why they were able to operate the rig without government regulations. Perhaps if there were some regulations in place, the explosion never would have happened. BP should have at least had a plan in place in case something went wrong. But, instead of being prepared, they are taking 3 months trying to figure out what they are going to do. The oil has already contaminated most of the Gulf region. Hopefully BP and the government will learn from this mistake and require all oil companies to have a plan in place to stop oil from leaking into the oceans.
